Wowâ¦itâs been awhile since Iâve published an article on GFFâ¦I have several books reviewed and awaiting and several patterns in the mix ready to shoot and document. But, since I am a contractor working for myself, spending time getting more consulting gigs is my #1 priority!
So, what have I been doing this year? Well, let me put it in perspectiveâ¦last year, I fished 54 days, most of them after Aprilâ¦this year, Iâve fished maybe 8 days; and a few of those days I was blanked as the conditions were just down-right terrible for fishing! On the other side of the token, Iâve had a bumper-crop year in the consulting biz. Work is on the pick-up, so getting paid is a good thing! Make hay while the sun shines, me thinks.
Iâve been experimenting with alternate web technologies to deliver new content in 2004 on GFF. What does that mean? That means things like streaming videos, DVD movies of techniques, etc. In collaboration with partner Martin, look for some new and interesting ways to view GFF content next year. We will undoubtedly be THE flyfishing source on the web, barre-none.
What kind of articles, then will you see from me incorporating some of this fancy, new streaming technology? How about a few funky (& I mean funkeeee!) patterns & how to tie them, how about some uncharacteristic nymph fishing techniques, with videoâ¦how about some interesting photography tips for flyfishersâ¦with animated examples? Yep, lotâs on the plateâ¦Iâm excited to get to work on this stuff. Let me clear the plate and make the time!
One last thoughtâ¦2004 will be the official 10 year anniversary of GFF! Can you believe it?! The partners and I have been bantering around how to celebrate. We have a few ideas, but want to include you, our valuable visitors in on our celebration. How might we do this? Email me at steve @ global fly fisher . com with your ideas.
Ok, back to my day jobâ¦
