Hello guys,
I am going to have a week of new years fishing on the peninsula alsen (denmark). I heard that the inner part of the peninsula is good to that time. I know that the winter fishing depends pretty much on the temperatures which should not be under 4ðC.
A friend told me to try places like "arnkil" or "lyngen".
Does anybody of you have some special recommendations to that time? Other nice places on alsen or experiences on fishing in the winter there? Any special flies I should try?
Many thanks and greetings,
horstmann
Dear Horstmann,
there is a very good book (in fact it is a series of books covering other Danish and Geman seatrout areas) on the fishing on Alsen. Pls. see the link.

These books are nicely illustrated and give a good introduction to the areas, the only downside i they are in German,

Thanks for your post...
In fact I know this book - I have it. German is no problem because this is where I come from...
Well the book is informative but I wanted to get some special tips for winter fishing. And you will find such informations not in this fishing guide. These "Rapsbande-books" do not give a detailed impression from the fishing spots - that's what I think. I have a few of them and I think they are perfect for beginners but I can not really get some information out of it which I did not know before. Perhaps this is why I fished there a few times - but not as I am going to - in the winter.
Cheers,

Hi Horstmann,
round new year you'll normally not have problems with the watertempratures. The average temprature is round 5/6ðC. To that time you can fish the whole island depending on the wind. Good places are all round Mjells Mark. Als Fjord and Augustenborg Fjord can also be good.
Recommendable flies are all Shrimppatterns, Gra Frede and Magnus. A Polar-Magnus is a good fly at this time of the year. Also white Shrimpflies can work good.
If you are working the east coste to that time, you must notice the protective zones. Especially the places between Torup and Fynshav have lots of protective zones.
