First fish of 2008

First of all: happy new year to all the global flyfisherfriends!
On january 1st, I had to get out of bed at about 6.30h to take some headache pills....and drink a bit of water, because I could not swallow anymore.... I decided not to go back to bed but do as I would try the whole new year: FISH MORE! I packed my gear and went to the famous Dutch Lake Oostvoorne. That's where I caught my first 2008 fish. This nice, fat, beautiful colorured, male, 60+ rainbow.

Any more first fishes already caught?[/img]

Dear Hanzie,

1st January at 6:30 I was still drinking my Old-Scotch either... :D

Nice Rainbow

I hope 2008 brings a lot of 60+ Trophy Fishes to you!

Best Regards
Feridun

Likewise! And congrats with the fish!

My first fish will have to wait a little yet. Work is a pest right now.

Nice one Hanzie. My first fish most likely will not be caught until February when I return to BC at this rate.

Martin, you write the most depressing blogs. They kind of reflect my experiences so far in Denmark this winter. I even mentioned you in my latest blog entry about my trip to the Swedish Coast on opening day. ;)

Maybe we should really do that perch trip to get the first fish of 2008?

Happy New Year everyone!

Nice fish Hans, what a way to start the new year :o

It's blowing a gale over here and snowing, so I'm going to have to wait until next week, when the finer weather begins. Otherwise I'm just sitting here nursing a new year's flu I bought back from my recent holiday in the UK

Bring on the good weather and a healthy body

nice fish and that's a dedicated man there! I had hoped to catch a grayling or 2 by now but the river was like liquid chocolate yesterday and its a blizzard today...might get out tomorrow but have to trot float, not fly....

Amazing fish Hans, I bet it was just the first in a long row in 08 :)

Cabinfever has struck me big time, tying flies and listening to podcasts 24/7, the waters around here are murky almost dark brown from all the meltwater although there is barely any ice on my homelake.

Best wishes for all gff people.

ps. why don't we arrange a spring summit somewhere?
