Hook: Gaelic Supreme Martinek Carrie Stevens Hook #1 10XL
Thread: Black
Tail: Red Icelandic sheep, tied in at the end spanning the full legnth of the hook to the eye and wrapped like a rib with white thread and tied off at the eye.
Body: Pearl tinsel on top of the red Icelandic sheep, wrapped to the eye (was originally plastic Christmas icycle in 1978)
Belly: White Icelandic sheep hair (was originally done with Bucktail in 1978)
Throat: Red hackles
Wing: Two Kingfisher blue saddle hackles flanked by two gray dun saddle hackles
Shoulder: Silver pheasant
Eye: Jungle Cock
Notes: This pattern was created in 1978 when David's client Martha Browne requested to have a commissioned fly. She had experienced some positive results on a previous trip to Grand Lake Stream with the Supervisor, so David surprised her with his creation, The Manager. The pattern finds its roots in Joseph S. Stickney's Supervisor with the addition of silver pheasant cheeks, a red throat and a white underbelly of Icelandic Sheep hair. The way that Icelandic Sheep looks when wet, holding its color and shape, makes it an ideal choice for a smelt pattern such as this. Martha has enjoyed great results with this streamer and reserves space for it in her fly box each season.

Dave, Love the color combinations in this fly. Great tie. I think I'm catching the streamer bug. No one told me it was contagious. LOL

Kelly My friend, I am excited about seeing your streamer again when it becomes your turn. This streamer has been very productive for Land Locked Salmon.

Dave: The Manager is a wonderful , colorful fly. I will be tying a couple for spring fishing. The 365 project is a great way to get a few new patterns. I love tying them, and will continue as long as I can. Where can I get Icelandic Sheep Hair. Most all of our shop's are closing one by one here in Maine. Charlie
