The team name "49ers" comes from the nickname given to the flock of prospectors migrating to northern California around 1849 in search of gold,fame and fortune. The name was suggested to reflect California history and pay homage to the pioneer voyagers who had rushed the West for gold. The red and gold looks incredible, and Don's selection of brilliantly colored wood duck really captures the team's spirit.
