Natural Black Squirrel

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

I don't know where you can find the black color. If you cannot find it, consider coloring it yourself. You can use a coloring pen similar to a Sharpie to get the color you need. It may not show up solid black, but should be dark enough for what you desire.

I found a black squirrel hide sold at Gander Mountain. (I bought it at the store, not online) I do not know if it was natural or dyed black though.

The best way to obtain such an item on a regular basis is probably to go on hunting boards which service areas where the black squirrel variant exist and find a local hunter whose willing to assassinate a bunch for you and send you the cured skins. You also might try contacting wildlife control contractors in the same regions and negotiating a similar deal.

Here's a link which will provide some locations.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
