#334 Dr. J - Joel Stansbury #334 Dr. J - Joel Stansbury

Tied by: Joel Stansbury
Originated by: Joel Stansbury

Hook: Mustad B-17 #2
Thread: White 8/0
Tag: Copper embossed tinsel
Body: Highlander green UNI-stretch
Rib: Copper embossed tinsel
Belly: White bucktail
Throat: Silver pheasant body feather
Wing: 2 Highlander green hackles flanked by Silver Dr. blue hackle flanked by dark Pardo Coq de Leon hackle
Shoulder: Jungle cock body feather
Eyes: Jungle cock nail
Head: Black

Notes: Being the family man he is, Joel makes sure to make his family his first priority, even before fishing and tying flies. The Dr. J was tied in honor of Joel's daughter Jennifer receiving her doctorate degree. Joel base the pattern on the Mezger Special, a blue and green winged pattern, adding one of his favourite feathers, a dark Pardo Coq de Leon (CDL) hackle. The blue and green tones peak out from behind the speckled shroud of the CDL feather and create a light spring smelt colour.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
