When on social media of various kinds, you bump into some very talented people now and then. Belarusian Dmitriy Lesnov is one of those talents
I have been virtual friends with Dmitriy Lesnov for a couple of years, and have been enjoying his regular posts with magnificent classic, full-dressed salmon flies.
I’m not a salmon fly tier myself, but can appreciate the talent it takes to tie these beauties.
I am lucky enough to be friends with some people who have the skills – and hooks and materials – to tie such flies, and have always been mesmerized by their creations and skills.
Same thing with Dmitriy’s flies: they are stunning.
Most are classic and well known patterns from past centuries, and most tiers of classics and quite a few of the rest of us will recognize originator names as Traherne and Pryce-Tannett and patterns such as Green Highlander, Barron, Evangeline, Jock Scott, Gitana and many, many more.
Dmitriy seems to be able to produce an endless stream of these flies.
He makes his own hooks, and also frames the flies.
And he sells them.
So if you want something beautiful and impressing to hang on the wall, this might be source. He also ties fishing flies as you can see from the set of hairwings pictured below.
Dmitriy also ties and sells fishing flies, mainly hair winged salmon flies.
The images on this page are all of Dmitry’s flies, photographed by himself.
