SWFFing around Kos

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Hi...I Fly Fish in the sea and rivers in England. I am going to the Greek island of Kos on holiday in June. Can anyone give me an insight in to what Saltwater Fly Fishing action I can expect and also what species I can expect to catch. I have been once before but did not fish, the water looks really "fishy" but looks can deceive. Any help would be welcome and I will post a report when I return.
Cheers
David

David,

be the fiorst on this page sending report about Greece! take some shrimp immitation or black zulu style fies, I am sure you will hooke into some pelagics. i saw plenty of kind of small mullets. so mullets will be your target especialyn in a small harbours

pls remember to take some local drink in order to kill your human smell befor you go fishing :D

David,

I know that GFF partner Kasper brought a rod and some flies to Italy and fished the Mediterranean. He brought classical saltwater streamers of the Popovich-kind and had success with small but strong fish.

Hi David, I have never been to kos, but have been to many Greek Islands and you will almost always see plenty of Mullet and some bream off the harbour walls and if you can get a boat you will have a good chance of finding some mackeral.
Please let us know how you do, and post some pics.
where do you fish in Hampshire? I am originaly from Gosport and used to fish the entrance to Pompey harbour for Bass and Pollack and some huge Flounder!
Cheers.
Mike.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
