The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.

GFFsummit closing in

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Good people,

I know that some of you have cancelled. But just in case I have kept you on the mailinglist for this final time. The rest of my communication will go out to the confirmed participants only.

The first few hurdles seems to be overcome. We have been set up in the hostel (final confrmation still missing, but I'm expecting that any time now).

The deal for all the confirmed people is 520 DKK per person for two nights with breakfast both mornings and dinner Saturday night with half a bottle of wine per person. I have paid a deposit and must pay the rest before we arrive, so I expect you to pay me in cash upon arrival or as soon as possible thereafter. I will honestly prefer cash rather than any electronic transfers. My experience with such events tells me that money in the hand is a good thing, and that an envelope and a pen is a perfect bookkeeping device. I will take Euros in case you have no Danish Kroners, but any ATM can pay you Danish money on your credit card.

This is how I expect the three days to run:

Thursday September 14th
------------------------------------
Early birds
Depending on work and logistics I anticipate arriving already Thursday. I am not sure yet, but should there be people interested in fishing this day, let me know. A couple have already announced their arrival early, and they will have to sort out accomodation directly with the hostel. Contact Tine at info@odense-danhostel.dk and refer to me.

If I arrive I expect it to be in the afternoon and I plan to find some fishing in the late afternoon evening.
But this day is still uncertain for me, and I will not decide until last moment, so don't count on me.

Friday September 15th
------------------------------------
Arrival day
My plan is to fish early if I'm already there and return to the hostel in the afternoon to greet people as they arrive. If I arrive Friday it will be during the afternoon sometime, and I don't expect to go fishing.
Dinner Friday is on yourself, and we can cook in the hostel or dine out depending on the mood.

Acommodation this night is included. We have two rooms sleeping eight people each. If you want something separate, you will have to pay extra for that. The hostel tells med that there are still rooms for Friday but that Saturday is fully booked.

Please notice that sleeping bags are NOT allowed! Bring linnen for the pillows, blankets and dovets available or rent linnen from the hostel (60 DKK).

Saturday the 16th
------------------------------------
Summit day!
We eat breakfast at the hostel (included) and go fishing all day. Lunch is on yourself, but the hostel can provide lunchpacks for 50 DKK. You can also just cater in any supermarket or whatever you fancy.

We fish all day. People who want to shop or see Odense should do it this day until early afternoon (or go Friday). Shops are closed from Saturday afternoon through Sunday.

The rest of us go fishing. The destination depends on the weather, but there are some excellent places within a half hour's drive and nothing is much further away than one hour. Stream fishing is an option, but I personally expect to fish the salt.

We stop fishing in time to return to the hostel for a dinner (included) and a chat. I expect that extra wine/beer/soda's etc. can be bought on the premises, but in case this is not an option, you will have to stock up in due time (Friday or Saturday).

No matter how late you go to bed, it's also included in the price... ;-)

Sunday September 17th
------------------------------------
Winding down
Whether you can eat anything or not, this breakfast is also included. Lunch is the same story as on Saturday. I expect that we pack up our stuff and leave bit later for this day's fishing, and some goodbyes will be said, since many may aim for more distant waters on their way home.

Personally I will savor some more coastal fishing on Fyn and head home as late as things allow.

If you need further acommodation, you will have to arrange it yourself. The "official" program ends sometime Sunday late afternoon, I expect.

Hey Martin,

You can count me in for fishing Thursday. I have taken holiday especially for this event.
Give us a call nearer the time or email.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
