South Norway

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Hi all,

I'll be spending a few days in south Norway, visiting some of my wife’s family, in the near future. By accident, a rod or two could sneak into my suitcase and then I might as well put them to use…
We’ll be staying near Risør, which lies on the coast between Kristiansand and Oslo.

Does anyone out there have any knowledge about fishing in this area?
And how is the season for fishing in Norway?

Cheers,
Atli

there is two rivers who is realy good that is drammenselven in drammen, here you can get fish 20+. But you could fish in otra to that river i dont know that much about.
if you search the internett im sure you will find several good river in the south :D

The Salmon season in Norway is over now, so I guess the 20+ salmon will have to wait.

But I am wandering what kind of fishing S-Norway has to offer in November, as I will be there around the 10th. Are there any lakes or rivers still open, or is the coast perhaps my best bet?

Cheers,
Atli

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
