First Fish fo 2007

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Just wanted to share couple pictures of fishing in the new year. Kyle's bone was 27 inches and mines was 29 inches. Hopefully fishing stays this good the whole year.

My first fish of the year was a handsome male Bluegill taken on a soft hackle. I can't imagine a better fly for sunfish. My second was a Largemouth Bass.

I envy you guys in several ways:

- I didn't catch my first fish this year yet. Haven't even fished actually...
- I've rarely seen such huge bones. Dare I ask where they were caught? Hawaii?
- I wish I had sunfish and bluegill in my back yard. I'd be out there every day with a small rod.

Happy new year!

Martin

I am just returning from a fishing trip in Mauritius with Dominique Thevenau (Fishing and Hunting Safaris in Mauritius) and this is my first fish caught on the fly for 07: a nice GT caught in Mauritius' warm water, huge crashing waves and a great fight! We also lost two very large GT's (80 to 100 pounders ! ) on poppers and manage to catch Yellow fin tuna also on popper.

This is a warm change from sea trout fishing in DK, but I can't wait to come to Fynn in April!!!
Tight lines,

Hello,

Beautiful Pic´s !!!!

Here is my small Seatrout on the first day in this year...

Let's see how many "first fish of the year" we can get in 2007.

This is my first fish. Released just after this photo taken by Henning Eskol.

Do not comment the black thing on top of my head.

Kasper

Nice hat. I saw one a minute ago on Marge Simpson. But seriously, folks. For a fish like that I would wear the hat.............briefly.

Bob,

I wonder what you would wear (or take off!) for the second or third fish Kasper got. He is probably too modest to post it himself:

[img:ab19ad6462]http://10stille.dk/pictures/10stille/20070107/medium_img_0526.jpg[/img:…]

And notice: Kasper is a big guy. The fish probably about 90 centimetres or close to 3 feet! Even though it's a kelt, that is one strong fish!

Martin

I did have my doubts about the hat in question and after my own detailed investigation I found out the truth.
Marge is Kasper and Kasper is Marge.
Several Duff beer cans were found on the beach suggesting that Homer took the pictures...
Doooooh!

Rip

Martin, I would do just about anything in the fashion department to catch that fish. I already dress like a hobo when I fish. What difference could a funky hat make? That is one sensational fish. Is Kasper a friendly ghost? I hope so.

I am surpised you figured out that Marge inspired me the way she did.

Even though it eas a kelt it was a nice and strong one. Hopefully the wind will go down within a week or two, so we can go fishing for some silver bars.

Kasper

So that's why I never get the big fish, I've just got a small modest hat. And there was me thinking it was my fishing techniques.........just shows you how worng one can really be

The only way of compensating for [i:9e12e5d705]not[/i:9e12e5d705] having a hat like mine, is to get one of the new GFF caps. That will improve the size of your catches...in general.

Kasper

Better late than never. :?

Braving the cold, a broken finger, I finally felt a tug at the end of the line on February 25th. :o

I hope you Danes have enjoyed the snow you had in the last several days. ;)

...yep, we did enjoy those 4 days dreaming about spring, streams, rivers and lovely weather without being obliged to wear 5 layers of clothes to survive :)

Lovely fish Rod, ...I´ll check the perch for you here soon

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
