Finally got to sit down to watch this superb video. I learnt a great deal and will be applying some of the tactics this year. Thanks for some great action shots. www.ukswff.co.uk

How about posting that oooone song from the Island Jam CD here for us to download and hear...

That would be the the total sensual overload...pictures and music...

Cheers

Kudos, as a professional photographer, I am continuously humbled by the effort and results of all enthusiasts of both genres. I feel guilty for not taking more angling and outdoors images. It is embarrasing, considering I was born and raised on Vancouver Island British Columbia, and now enjoy semi-retirement in the Annapolis valley of Nova Scotia. Perhaps it is because of these facts that I was taking my surroundings for granted. I have been carrying my camera for all my fishing trips lately, and perhaps one day I will post and Image or two - unfortunately, I am a better photographer than angler!

Great one Tomaz! The people are a bit shabby looking, but the fish look fine. ;-)

Great Article on Strike Indicators. I enjoy fishing rivers and will definitely tie some of your indicators and try them on some of west coast rivers.

I prepare the newsletter for a small fly fishing club of about 30 members. Total distribution is to about 40 people.

May I have permission to reprint your article. I will make sure that the author and your website receive all the required credits.

Thank you

We received one of Matt's pictures as a gift and enjoy it so much. He is a very talented artist and makes each piece of art so detailed that is seems to come alive. His workmanship is excellent and you can see his love for fishing in his designs.

I have some of Matt's work in my home and my husbands office. The quality of work is above anything I have ever seen. I have had so many compliments on his work. I would recommend his work to anyone. I have even given some of his work to friends for gifts.

Paul,

Heh! Fly rods from carrots, huh? Sounds like a pretty good deal now that the French are craving all the carbon fibres for their huge airplanes.

I wanted to get some close photographs of jumping fish. I want to see the water movement and the reflection after jumping a fish.

Super DIY-information.
I've just started to make my first Epoxy-flies, and this "contraption" i just what you need
if you dont want to spend hours turning one fly at the time in your vice.
I've made the following minor changes to your "patent".

1. Mount it on a broader base. It'll make it much more stable
2. Install a switch for the motor - it makes at lot easier to turn the motor off/on when mounting "wet" flies.

If you're looke for places to buy the motor - try karaoke-equipment shops on the net.
The top from a CD-box is at super idea. It's perfect in size and weight.
The foam for mounting the flies was at problem to me, untill I saw a "knee-pad" for
gardening at the local buildingmarket. It's slightly thicker than what's shown, but it'll
easyly hold big flies.

Super info and idea!!

Jack,

What do you mean "too many sites are non-exsitent"?

Links to other sites from this page? Not so! I just checked the links, and they seem to work. What other people do with their sites is out of our hands, but we try to preserve every page intact eternally... almost.

Hiya all, I am back in Vancouver once again, sorry to those who I haven't been staying in touch with email. Vanuz and I were able to get together just after Christmas for a day of fishing, we managed to find some perch. My last catch of the day turned out to be the larg… perch I've encountered so far. I cheated a bit though, with a spinner. Vanuz was able to get a few on the fly, but they were a bit smaller than that.

Anyways, January fishing in Denmark was a bust, as record rainfall kept us inside the apartment most of the time. We managed to do something fish related in the end, we visited Øresund Aquarium in Helsingør.

Thanks once again for everyone's assistance. :)

Chuck,

I'm sure Hans would never claim to have originated the EHC - and he certainly doesn't do so here. He even mentions Al Troth - the true originator - in the article.

Regarding the CDC "rope" as a body, it might very well be that Marc Petitjean has a similar technique in some of his patterns, but roping a feather can hardly be called an original way of doing things anyway. Claiming to originate that would be like claiming the fame of having invented hackling or dubbing... You may stumble upon the idea without prior knowledge, but many tiers have done that and used the technique before you.

What Hans did - and is the truly originator of - was to combine the two - Al Troth's Elk Hair Caddis and whoever's CDC roping technique - into a very versatile, easily tied and effective fly.

I thought Petitjean originated the use of CDC in roping the body for a CDC caddis ;-).... and i don't recall Hans Weilenmann's name in association with the origination of the ElkHair Caddis....i could be mistaken though. So if i were to take a classic Catskill Dry fly like say, The adams and use CDC puffs for wings --- could i then claim to be it's originator?

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
