Converting a classic salmon fly to hairwing form has been done for many years among salmon anglers. Recently, the gang on the streamers@ mailing list tried their hand at converting classic salmon patterns to trout flies.
Several years ago, our web host, Bob Skehan, published a feature of flies where he converted traditional salmon flies to featherwing stream form. A few years later, on our little streamers@ discussion list, the guys got to talking and decided to do something similar, only this time instead of featherwing streamers, we would tie the flies as little bucktails. So - there you have it - a feature of atlantic salmon patterns tied in "trout bucktail" form.

Never have liked lon
Never have liked long hooks like these. Gives a fish too much leverage and losses are higher than with hooks like the TMC 200R for ex.
