Mini Deveiver

The Deceiver is one of the most popular, effective and iconic baitfish flies. It is a staple in most saltwater Fishermans boxes and for pike, bass, and even trout and other freshwater fish go after these as well. It can represent a shad, sardine, anchovy, minnow, and basically any common baitfish that your local waters hold. They are fairly easy to tie once you get the hang of them. Your first few probably will come out looking worse than you want, but after you get a few under your belt you will find that it is fairly intuitive and can be tied rather quickly compared to some other similar flies. They move very nicely in the water as well which tends to attract the fish.

So today Im tying some smaller ones. Usually I tie these for customers in the size 1-4/0 range however today this customer wanted some smaller ones. Check out Ryans Instagram and Youtube channel when you have a chance. He uses these flies to catch some really nice peacock bass, tarpon, redfish and more species out in Florida.
