Body: Silver flat tinsel

Notes: Graydon Hilyard, author of the book "Carrie G. Stevens: Maker of Rangeley Favorite Trout and Salmon Flies", commented on the pattern as "... the pattern most often observed during research.". It is also noted that several variations of the streamer exist, and that there were many inconsistencies. The yellow throat hackle was sometimes replaced with red or white, the body could be red, orange or silver and that the tag could be non-existent, gold or silver. Even the location of the peacock herl shifts from being tied on top as a wing, to the bottom as part of the belly. As much as us modern tyers try to adhere to the patterns of the past, it is nice to know that there may be a bit more breathing room in some instances.
