#269 Phoenix Streamer - Davie McPhail #269 Phoenix Streamer - Davie McPhail

Tied by: Davie McPhail
Originated by: Davie McPhail

Hook: Partridge CS15 #2
Thread: 6/0 red
Body: Chinese red UNI-wool
Rib: Gold embossed tinsel
Belly: Mixed orange and yellow bucktail golden pheasant crest dyed red sweeping upwards
Wing: 2 sunburst dyed hackles flanked by badger hackle dyed red
Cheek: Long red golden pheasant body feather then a shorter golden pheasant yellow dyed orange body feather
Topping: Peacock herl
Eye: Jungle cock dyed yellow
Horns: Blue macaw (upper and lower)
Head: Red over wrapped with mirage tinsel

Notes: Davie continues to wow with his vibrant streamer creation, the Phoenix Streamer. The colors mix beautifully from the belly to the wing, topped off with some fishy looking peacock herl over the top. The head is finished with the mirage tinsel wrapped and glued over the head, creating a unique glow on the streamer. While the base of the fly is quite bright, the natural elements such as the badger pattern in the outside hackle and the dark natural red of the pheasant create a pleasing blend of warm colour.

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
