#46-2013 Yak Attack - Alan Grombacher #46-2013 Yak Attack - Alan Grombacher

Tied by: Alan Gronbacher
Originated by: Bruce Wainman

Hook: Unknown
Connection: Doubled braided / coater steel leader
Thread: White 6/0
Eye: Barbell eyes
Body: Epoxy bump
Belly: White saltwater yak hair
Wing: White Slinky Fibre (or similar) then orange yak hair then chartreuse yak hair
Head: White

Notes: This six inch streamer is destined to meet the gnarling teeth of northern snot rockets. Yak hair has an intrinsic translucent quality similar to the fly tyer's coveted polar bear hair. The hair is quite thick, durable and has a soft wave along its length. These qualities make it an ideal natural material for the streamers fated to end up hanging from tooth filled jaws. The epoxy (or resin) bump helps to keep the wing and belly flared out and Alan uses heavy wire to connect the hooks. Make certain that you double back the wire so that it is secured. A shot of superglue is a good insurance to add as well.

Since you got this far …

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
