Tied by: Bob Petti & Robert Frandsen
Originated by: Preston Jennings
Source: Streamer Fly Tying and Fishing, Joseph Bates 1966 pg. 290-291
Hook: Streamer hook
Thread: Black 6/0
Body: Silver flat tinsel
Rib: Silver oval tinsel
Wing: Red under yellow under green under blue bucktail
Eye: White painted eye with black center or jungle cock nail
Head: Black
Notes: Preston Jennings had a unique perspective when it came to designing lures, and used a prism to view his natural bait fish muses. The viewing offered Mr. Jennings a separation of colour which he used as the basis to design his streamers. The Iris #1 is quite striking in colour and was originally tied using polar bear. Fox, yak or bucktail are good substitutes for the hard to acquire polar bear hair.
