Platte River Bucktail Streamer Pattern Recipe
Hook: Mustad 79580 #1
Thread: Black 6/0
Body: Brown floss or embroidery thread
Rib: Gold flat tinsel
Throat: Red bucktail tied short
Wing: Mixed yellow and natural brown bucktail
Collar: Brown furnace and yellow hackle (4 wraps)
Head: Black
Notes: The Platte River Special is a preverbal favourite for fishing browns and bows on the patterns namesake river. The feather wing Platte River Special was developed by Bud Miller in the early 1950's and has since spawned several variations of the fly. Kevin's bucktail version has become an excellent streamer for fishing during the fall season. It is as good as a dinner bell for attracting big hungry brown trout.

Long story short
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
