Bill's Streamers
Bill's Biography
I have been tying flies since 1978. I discovered fly fishing and fly tying by watching a Canadian angling show one Saturday morning. Since then I have spent a considerable time of my life learning both the old and new techniques of tying flies. I specialize in tying the Classic styles of flies, such as Catskill Dry Flies, Rangeley style Streamers and Classic and Artistic Salmon Flies.
I am a professional tyer, but not a commercial tyer. I refer to myself as a pattern creator and developer. I am always looking for new materials and techniques to create flies for both fresh and salt water anglers.
As much as I enjoy tying a fly to put into a frame, I enjoy tying flies to catch fish even more, especially if it's a creation of my own. There nothing more exciting than tying a fly of your design and catching a fish on it.
I very much enjoy doing tying demos and classes; I feel that every tyer and angler needs to pass on at least some of his her knowledge to the next generation.
Bill's flies have been published in several books and magazines, and has won several awards for his fly tying. Most notably the 1988 Northeastern Fly Tying Championship and several medals in the Fly Tyers online tying contests. Plus he is a member of Team Nymph Head, a group of professional tyers that create flies using Nymph Head beads and represents the Flymen Co. Bill currently works as a Coffee Processing Coordinator For Keurig Green Mountain Coffee. He lives in Northern Vermont and spends his time fishing its waters with friends and the Love of his life Tena Fraser.
