Akroyd

The Akroyd belongs to the family of Dee Strip Winged flies. These are very old flies originating from the famous Scottish salmon river Aberdneshire Dee, commonly called the Dee. The Dee Strip Winged flies are very special with their characteristic turkey wing and their long heron hackles. We have had our skilled Swedish tyer Håkan Karsnäser behind the vice to demonstrate this beautiful and classic pattern. And remember classics are not only to be tied and put in a frame, this pattern calls for being used in the hunt for salmon.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
