Ally's Shrimp
Salmon live a large part of their lives feeding on shrimp and small fish, and perhaps this is why shrimp patterns throughout history have always been effective in luring the salmon to take a fly, when they return to the rivers and rivers. The orange-colored shrimp flies are a must-have in the boxes, and one of the most famous shrimp flies is the Ally's Shrimp. Scottish flytyer Ally Gowans is the man behind this modern classic salmonfly pattern, and we have had our very own Håkan Karsnäser behind the vise to demonstrate the tying of the Ally's Shrimp.

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
