Barred Rabbit Strip Steelhead Tube Fly

Bruce Berry of Pro Tube Sport Fisher stopped by The Caddis Fly to demonstrate a simple steelhead tube fly pattern. Using the new metal Pro Sonic Disc he finishes the fly.

A very nicely tied fly, but why did he and many other tiers place the barred rabbit with the bars facing up? Don't salmon and steelhead come from below to take a swinging fly, I know tarpon are almost always coming from below to take a fly.
