Carters Rubber Leg Dragonfly

No comments yet

This fly, the carters rubber leg dragonfly, I feel is one of the best all around warm water flies out there. I would say it is specifically geared towards fishing panfish, especially if tied in a smaller size, but it works great for bass, carp and even catfish. When tied with a jig hook, the action changes slightly from being specifically a streamer fly, to one that can also be fished by bouncing off the bottom. This makes it a fly that is great for carp, as many times you need to cast in front of them, let it sink, and jiggle it a bit without it moving much. Bass also love this fly as well. So when I go fishing for sunfish, I always bring this fly with me because it will work great for all panfish, but also has the ability to entice other fish if I happen to spot some.

This also isn't very difficult to tie, and it's also rather inexpensive. You dont need a high end whiting saddle like I used in this video, a cheap $10 saddle will work great and give you enough feathers for 100 or more of these flies. So when using Risen hooks (great quality and a great price) you can tie up 25 of these, filling a box, for as little as $20. Giving you materials leftover for other flies as well.

Make sure you check out my sponsor Risen Fly. They have amazing deals on hooks and beads, but also sell some of the best fly rods Ive ever used, and at a price that is very reasonable. With the cost of fly fishing going up every year, it's refreshing to find great quality gear at prices we can all afford. Best off they are offering all of you a discount just for being my subscriber. So go to www.risenfly.com and type in McFly at checkout for 15% off your first order with them.

Also dont forget to pick up one of my fly boxes. I have both magnetic backed and silicone backed, if these sell well I plan on getting more styles as well and maybe even bringing back the shirts that everyone loved years ago. Check out my amazon store front to pick up the boxes. - www.amazon.com/shops/McFlyAngler

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
