The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.

Dubbed CDC Emerger

No comments yet

So this fly is relatively easy to tie, except for splitting the thread. You really need to use a thread like UTC Ultra Thread which is very flat and splits easily. These flies dont float quite as well as some other CDC flies out there, but they float well enough, and are perfect for a hopper dropper, or larger (better floating) fly as the lead. Its a very effective fly for those trout looking to feast on smaller midges and baetis emerging.

As always here is a list of materials used on this fly.
Hook: TMC 100bl in size 16
Thread: UTC Ultra Thread 70 in brown
Body: Turkey Biot in Olive
Hot Spot: 2mm Fly Foam in Red
Wing: CDC in natural dun
Cement: Hard as Hull head cement

Since you got this far …

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
