Building easy segmented fly bodies with cheap silicone earring stoppers.
Earring stoppers are soft silicone beads which slide onto the pins of earrings to keep them in place. They are very cheap (£2/1000 in the UK) and make great segmented bodies for nymphs and dry flies. Once coloured with marker pens the beads have a very natural looking translucency and can be combined with dubbing and other materials to make a wide range of imitations.
