Fishing a redfish Tournament

I decided to head back down and try my hand again at catching a tagged redfish for the tournament I signed up for. This tournament allows for up to 10 tagged fish to be caught, and the first 3 get the grand prize, but following that we get smaller prizes. So far only one person has gotten a tagged fish. So we hoped this trip to get one for ourselves.

Right off the batt I caught a flounder. Yes, on the fly rod, a flounder! I also caught 3 reds on the trip, along with some of the annoying hard head catfish.

This was a fun trip even though we didnt get a tagged fish. None of the reds were large enough to keep, but that is ok. We will catch some next time. However I was able to bring home a flounder which tastes better to me than any other fish in the sea. These are some of my favorite eating fish.

The rod I used on the first day was Risen fly's Goliath rod, and the reel was the "whale" reel. This setup is awesome for fishing the salt. They also have wonderful prices for their high quality gear. And even better yet, they give all my subs a discount. So make sure your subscribed to me, then go to www.risenfly.com and type in McFly at checkout for 15% off of your first order with them.

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
