Greenwell

This is a fun old school dry fly.

For a professional tying of the fly watch this video by Robert Smith https://youtu.be/i63YwtrHOwo

Starling and I did not get along so I moved to duck quills. I don't have cobblers wax by I do have olive silk...so using what I have and having fun.

Hook: Tiemco 100 sz 14
Wing: traditionally Starling - I used duck quill which is easier.
Body: Primrose silk waxed with cobblers wax to give it an olive shade. I just used olive silk.
Rib: small gold wire
Tail: Greenwells rooster hackle fibers
Hackle: Greenwells rooster hackle

You can substitute a furnace rooster hackle if you don't have a "greenwells" cape.

Although starling and I don't get along...I am going to make it happen for the next video which will be the Greenwell's Glory wet fly as close as I can figure to the original pattern...of course though on an eyed hook. Stay tuned!

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
