This is a perfect stillwater emerger, it sits very flush to the film and does a great job of imitating a chironomid struggling through the water's surface. It's can be tied in different colours and sizes to suit different locations or times of year. Although it's essentially an emergent buzzer pattern, it will do a job of imitating other insects like lake olives or sedges if tied the right size.
