Haugur

Here we will be tying the fly Haugur by Sigurður Héðinn, and Icelandic angler and guide who has decades of experience. The fly was published for the public in the year 2000 and has been indeed one of Iceland's best designed salmon flies and is know to work everywhere the wild Atlantic salmon is caught. The pattern is simple and not too difficult to tie. I have used the Haugur fly few times and it gave me fish.

Pattern:
Author: Sigurður Héðinn (Siggi Haugur).
Hook: Ahrex HR428 #6
Thread: 8/0 Red.
Tail: Black bucktail + 2 strands of blue crystal tinsel.
Body: Pearl tinsel.
Hackle: Blue rooster feather.
Wing: Black squirrel + 2 strands of blue crystal tinsel.
Head: Red with a finish of varnish in the end.

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
