Here we will be tying the fly Herdís. The fly is designed by my mentor and lifetime teacher in fly fishing and fly tying, Jón Sigurðsson. The fly a great option for both stream and lake fishing and it catches both brown trout and arctic char. Simple to tie and totally worth to keep few in your box when go fishing. I use the fly anytime I go out fishing and I never go fishing without the fly. The funny thing is that not lot of people know the flies that Jón designed so it's a good reason to tie all of them and share them with you to honour his memory. Jón was a mastermind when it comes to design flies and there are some of his flies to be found in Icelandic books about the meditating sport of fly tying.

Hook: Ahrex traditional nymph #10.
Thread: UNI 8/0 black.
Wire: UNI small copper wire.
Body: Black floss, or similar material.
Wing: Brown feather from a wood duck flank.
Head: Red with a finish of varnish in the end.
