Iceray

No comments yet

Danish fly fisher and fly tyer Lars Chr. Bentsens favorite fly for chasing salmon is the Iceman - a pattern by Lars’ good friend Michael Koch from Denmark. Michael has fished for salmon in Norway for the better part of 35 years, and over the last 20 or so years, Iceman has been a stable in his boxes. The fly also does well for sea trout in rivers all over Scandinavia. A good colour combination when there are fresh fish in the river. As summer approaches, Lars will drop to smaller sizes on single hooks, and in really low, clear water, he prefers a small, long and very sparse version without a hackle tied on a small piece of cutoff from a tubefly - a simplified version called the Iceray. He will in this video demonstrate the tying of this fly.

Tube: Small piece of cutoff from a Pro Flexitube Clear
Thread: UNI White
Wing: Chartreuse Craft Fur + Pearl Mirrorflash, Fl. Blue Craft Fur + Chartreuse Mirrorflash and finally Black Craft Fur on top

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
