Jig Nymph
There is quite nothing more effective than a deep-fished nymph for the big trouts and grayling in the streams and rivers. But the technique of small heavy nymphs tied and fished on small jig hooks offers some additional advantages compared to the traditional nymph hooks. The hook tip, which will automatically turn upwards, ensures that the hook will not get stuck as often, so you can fish deeper and longer all the way down between rocks and snags without getting stuck and braking the tippet and loosing the fly. The method is often referred to as Czech nymphing as it originally comes from the Czech streams. In this video, we have put Håkan Karsnäser behind the vise to tie his simple take on an effective mini-jig. Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
