Josh's White Lightning

In this fly tying tutorial, I feature a fly that was created by Josh Williams of Dead Drift Flies ( This pattern, Josh's White Lightning, is an attractor nymph that fishes well in a lot of water types, including slightly off-color. This is an easier pattern to tie, and I encourage you to vary it based on the fish in your area (color modifications would be the best to play around with).

Featured in this fly tying tutorial are the N202 hooks by Allen Fly Fishing. I utilize these for a lot of patterns, including some hoppers, terrestrials, nymphs, and certain soft hackles. They can be found at the following link:

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
