Key Lime Cockroach

No comments yet

The Cockroach is a classic tarpon-pattern developed by Norman Duncan back in the days before the modern era of synthetic fly tying materials. It is meant to imitate shrimp and other crustaceans and is preferred to be dressed sparsely. Tied mostly with natural materials and constructed with the hackles in a V-shape which gives the fly excellent movement in the water and a absolute ”must have” in the box for the search of "The Silver King".

The Cockroach can be used anywhere tarpon are found, but it is an especially important pattern for chasing to tarpon in the clear water of the Florida Keys and the Gulf of Mexico. We have had our very own Steve Silverio behind the vise to demonstrate the tying in his favorite color of the Cockroach in a lime/chartreuse color-scheme.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
