Passe-Partout
Devaux A4 Dry Fly - Gris à Corps Jaune which means "Grey with Yellow Body" and this is a general dry fly pattern with many variations. I will tie it Devaux style and what he called the Passe-Partout or “pass key” and often named the A4 as was its code in his list of flies.
Devaux tied a long tail in line with the body and used two feathers for the hackle, which were pushed forward by the thread and finishing knot.
Hook: size 10-18
Tail: russet colored rooster hackle fibers
Hackle: Dun color; cocked slightly forward at the bend side by the finishing knot.
Body: yellow silk lightly waxed with cobbler's wax to mimic the soiled fingers look prized as the “touch” of the tier.
Enjoy!

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
