Royal Coachman

The Royal Coachman is undeniably one of the most beautiful flies ever created, especially the wet version. The lines and curves of the white wing, with the beauty of peacock and red floss body, finished up with a tail made out of the collar of one of the prettiest birds out there, a golden phoenix. But this is not just one of those flies to frame and hang on a wall, but it is also effective at catching fish. Trout love these royal coachman flies. This is the wet version which is great for swinging. So the technique is different than most nymphs, but with good technique this fly can out fish many other regular nymph flies. Even though this fly looks difficult, it is not really too tough to tie. Once you get that wing down, the rest of the fly is really pretty simple.

I made a comment that the hook wasn't the 9231, but I was wrong, it is the 9231. The package said 1x short but it isn't, it's 2x long. Which makes more sense for this hook. If you want a shorter hook, try the 9221 instead.
