Salmon fishing in River Muonio, Finland/Sweden

You can add English subtitles for the video from the Youtube settings.
On the last weekend of August we decided to make a trip to the Väylä river. Väylä is a local name for the Tornio-Muonio river system, which is located in the border of Sweden and Finland. Väylä is a very large river and it is not well known for good fly fishing spots. However, the river is only one hour drive from our home so it was a natural place to train salmon fly fishing. Last year, over 100 000 salmons came to the river during the salmon run, but we had hard times trying to catch even one of them. Well, the June and the beginning of August was so hot that hardly any salmons were caught. Luckily, on the last trip before the river was closed for the season we finally managed to catch one of these mighty beasts. And yeah, the weight of the fish was 18 kilos. Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
