It’s easy to get frustrated with winged wet flies it’s not the simplest of fly tying tasks. The rub is though do you really think the fish care if you have married up your slips? If you do then I am sorry to break it to you, they really don’t! We tie ourselves up in knots trying to create perfection where as more often than not a fish will take most anything that is presented in the right way at the right depth and speed.

I do not like to waste anything so when I got some really old hen pheasant I thought they would be ideal for some winged wets. Unfortunately, the quality was not there to produce what I would call camera flies. Still they were certainly good enough for flies to fill my own box. The purpose of todays extra ‘Lockdown’ video is to show that you can make use of the worst of materials.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
