Silver Doctor

No comments yet

Among the most popular patterns of classic salmon flies, we find the Silver Doctor which is part of the Doctor series, designed by James Wright back in the 1850s. The series features other classic patterns such as Black Doctor, Blue Doctor, White Doctor and Hemsdale Doctor. Silver Doctor is the only one with a beautiful shiny body made of silvertinsel, the others had bodies of flosssilk, and with its light blue hackle it is an obvious fly for clear water and sunshine – and many salmon have been fooled by the beauty of the fly. As the complicated wings of exotic feather stripes began to be replaced with simpler wings of hair, many of the classic patterns were converted into modern salmon flies. It is this modern version of Silver Doctor that we have had the skilled Swedish fly tyer and fly fisherman Håkan Karsnäser in the studio to demonstrate.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
