Spanish Style CDC V-Wing Dry Fly

Spanish Style CDC V-Wing Dry Fly with Sneaky Sighter.

This is a style of dry fly popularized in Spain, and I believe from the comp scene. It is a popular style of dry fly in Spain and in other parts of Europe.

Recipe:
Tail: Gallo de Leon fibers
Body: Silk. You can use any combination of colors/ribs and silk floss, button hole twist, etc. Use real silk. It has a shine and, when wet, creates a look of depth.
Wing: Two CDC feathers. Color to match the insect you are mimicking.
Sighter: Glo-brite or other similar material.

The method is quite straightforward, and the use of the sighter to split the wing and hide within it allows the angler to still keep an eye on the fly but makes it less visible to the fish below.

Enjoy!

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
