Stoats Tail Long Wing

No comments yet

Here we will be tying the famous salmon fly Stoat's Tail. This time I'll be tying a long wing version of it. Some of you guys may know of have heard about Árni Baldursson, but he's the man who designed this version of it. The Stoat's Tail is originally from the United Kingdom and is named after the animal Stoat. The fly is a great option for salmon fishing and some people say that the fly is among the best you can have for fishing Atlantic salmon. The original pattern has been around for decades but this particular pattern in this tutorial works all season. The prime time for this pattern is late summer in a dim rainy weather. This fly is simple to tie and 100% worth to have it in your box since it's an Árni Baldursson fly pattern but he has vast knowledge and experience in fly fishing in Iceland and other parts of the world.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
