The last batch - for now - of tying thread arrived, and I'm about to throw myself at the mercy of my micrometer
I have been gathering new tying threads the latest months with the prupose of updating my tying thread table, which now contains more than 160 tying threads.
It's been a few years since it was last worked on "for real"- not just adding threads with info found online, but actually working with the thread and doing evaluations and measurements.
That's going to happen now.
I have a fairly large selection of brand new threads, which I haven't seen before or used, and they are now all on my tying table ready to be put through the paces, and used for tying flies. I will also measure each and do my usual evaluation of the traits of each. Can it split? Is it smooth? How does it feel? Is it strong?
I just fetched the last batch in my mailbox. UK manufacturer Fulling Mill was nice enough to send me an envelope with samples. They seem to be very nice threads, and should be a good supplement to the market, where suppliers are coming and going.
