Very popular and effective fly pattern. This is a great fly for saltwater applications, but also can be used for larger freshwater fish like bass, salmon, or pike. While they aren't the most easy to tie, they aren't difficult either, and they really do catch fish. They move so nicely in the water.
Hook: Gamakatsu SS15 hook size 1/0, but any long shank saltwater hook will work.
Tail: White saddle hackle
Thread: Danville 210 waxed in blue
Body: Pearl braid, or silver tinsel
Wings: White and blue buck tail
Gill: Red calf tail, or red crystal flash
Eyes: Stick on eyes, preferably flat, but I used 3D eyes which work as well.
Epoxy: Solarez "Bone dry" UV curing resin.

Solarez
Does Solarez leave a tacky finish?
Well if you don't fully cure
Well if you don't fully cure it then it could. Using a low powered light with a short cure time will keep it tacky, however if you use their light, it will cure quickly and without tackyness as they advertise. Depending on the formula, it can cure tack free in as little as 8 seconds. The thicker the formula though the longer it takes. The thick hard formula takes 30+ seconds. I usually cure it to keep it from moving then stick it in the sun to finish. But the rest of their formulas are much quicker.
