Notes: Darren tells us he is fond of badger wings and simple flies. He stumbled upon the pattern in the 'New Illustrated Dictionary of Trout Flies', but couldn't find any other references. Darren dressed this fly as per the recipe, but there is a plate included in the book with this fly. One difference noted is the color of the throat in the recipe and the plate. The recipe calls for dyed red while the plate looks to be a natural red-brown hackle, perhaps furnace. The pattern is quite similar to the Jesse Wood Streamer, substituting the Bali wing for the badger in this case. As it happens, the Jesse Wood Streamer is known as the Demon Streamer in Canada, so it's not too much of a stretch to see how these two patterns may be related.
