Hook: Mustad 9575 #4
Head: Black
Tail: A long and narrow section of scarlet duck quill
Body: Medium flat silver tinsel.
Ribbing: Narrow oval silver tinsel
Throat: Magenta hackle
Wing: Four magenta saddle hackles
Shoulder: A section of brown turkey tail feather 1/3 the length of the wing

Notes: Finding the "correct" trout fly that the Montreal streamer is derived from isn't really so simple. In a limited search, no fewer than 12 dressings for the Montreal (wet) trout fly were discovered. The Montreal Silver pattern is the closest, being it has a silver body, but the origin of the magenta hackle is unknown. It could be assumed the lighter wing color comes from a faded claret that is seen in most of the Montreal trout flies.

This pattern was adapted from the trout fly of the same name.There are several accepted dressings for it, no one of which can be considered authentic.Another popular dressing is-- Tail:scarlet impala or a small bunch of scarlet hackle fibers. Body: scarlet silk, medium thick. Ribbing: narrow oval silver tinsel. Wing: fox squirrel tail.
