Tied by: Darren MacEachern
Originated by: Carrie Stevens
Source: Carrie G. Stevens: Maker of Rangeley Favorite Trout and Salmon Flies - Hilyard

Notes: In her effort to show support for World War II, Carrie Stevens created a series of 4 streamers known collectively as her Patriotic patterns. General Douglas MacArthur was a prominent figure in the media of the times, and an obvious symbol of patriotism. The General MacArthur streamer is the most popular of the patterns as the other 3 were virtually unknown until the arrival of Graydon and Leslie Hilyard's "Carrie Stevens: Maker of Rangeley Favorite Trout and Salmon Flies" in 2000, now considered the bible of Carrie's streamers. All of the patterns share the distinctive red, white and blue heads, which can be quite a challenge to get a handle of. Darren ties his streamers using a flat waxed nylon thread and adds the blue and red once the basic shape of the head is formed. A flat thread works best, this also helps prevent and bumps between color transitions. Happy Independence day America.

These will be auctioned off as a set at the end of the month, but if you can't wait to get a set of your own, Don Bastian has also put together several this collection of Carrie's streamers and is available through his MyFlies page.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
