#255 Solar Salar - Darren MacEachern #255 Solar Salar - Darren MacEachern

Tied by: Darren MacEachern
Originated by: Darren MacEachern

Hook: Partridge CS15 #2
Thread: Black
Tail: Yellow hackle fivers
Body: Gold embossed tinsel
Belly: White bucktail
Throat: Yellow Schlappen
Wing: 2 red hackles flanked by 2 natural Coq de Leon hackles on each side
Shoulder: Red then yellow Lady Amherst pheasant body feather
Eye: Jungle cock
Head: Black

Notes: A part of the beauty of both badger and Coq de Leon feathers is their ability to re-tone the base colors placed under them. The bright red of the dyed hackle is toned down to a more natural looking reddish speckled, natural patterned cloak. There is no doubt in the effectiveness of yellow and red streamers as evidenced by the Mickey Finn and Jim Warner's Yellow Marabou Special. The shoulder of the fly is comprised by staggering a red tipped and a yellow tipped Lady Amherst pheasant body feather.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
