Notes: Don created the Ace of Spades streamer around 1998. It was originally published in the collection of streamers found in 'Forgotten Flies'. The pattern was created with the hopes of producing a dark casting streamer to fish in the Moosehead Lake region of Maine.

"The Ace of Spades" was originally named by the late U.K. pro-tyer, Dave Collyer, The dressing is. 4/10 l.s. hook, blk thread, dressed Matuka style, with 2 pairs black cock or hen hackles (back to back) over a black chenille body ribbed with silver oval tinsel. A "crown or overwing" of bronze mallard fibres with natural guinea fowl false hackle. This can be weighted &/or beaded if desired & has taken a lot of fish since it's inception back in the 1960's when it was first published in the now de-funked "Angling" magazine where Dave had a monthly column. It was also in his first book "Fly Dressing"

It seems that Mr.Schmookler didn't do much, if any research on any of the U.K. patterns in Forgotten Flies, as I don't recall any of them being correct.
